About Department

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 1999, with the approval of AICTE. Within a short span of time, the department has established itself as one of the best department of our college and got approval for additional intake of another 60 in the year 2006 – 07. The Department is adequately staffed with faculty strength of 24 staff members, meeting the AICTE norms (15:1 student faculty ratio). In addition, 12 non – teaching staff also supports the Department. The department is having 2 professors, 6 Associate Professors and 16 Assistant Professor.

Vision

To be reckoned as an esteemed institute that would provide value added Human Resource in the field of Electronics & Communication Engineering meeting the quality demands of Industry, Teaching Institutes and Research Organizations world wide who are the end users / final customers of the Human Resource.

Mission

To nurture the young talent available in the country and transform them into enterprising technologists so that they contribute immensely to the technological development and prosperity of the country and provide dynamic leadership to others.

Objective of the Department

To Excel in all aspects of academic activities and to develop creative engineers with a stature that enables them to provide leadership, credibility, with emphasis on rural development and to accept extension and public services as a third dimension to their role in addition to education and discipline.

Infrastructure Facilities

The department has well – equipped laboratories like Electronics Computer Aided Design Lab, Communications Lab, Electronics Devices Lab, Micro Processor & Micro controllers Lab, DSP & MATLAB, Microwave Lab & Optical Communication Lab and PDC & IC – Design Lab. The major equipment in the laboratories include Analog Oscilloscopes, DSP kits, FPGA /CPLD kits , 8085 & 8086, 8051 kits, Interfacing kits and Embedded Systems kits etc., Software like TINA, MATLAB and XILINX are also available with the department. The Department is having Faculty members with vast teaching experience. The department is also having R & D centre equipped with spectrum analyzer and digital storage oscilloscope.

Library Facilities

The department is having Department library with 216 volumes and 2 National journals etc. The department also having 1 LCD Projectors, 2 OHP’s for the purpose of the teaching.

Activities Conducted by the Department

The department is regularly conducting the co – curricular activities like Technical Quiz, workshops, National Level technical symposium (VIDYA), seminars, Group Discussions, PDP, Paper Presentations, Guest Lectures by external experts, student’s seminars for the betterment of the students. The Department will be organizing 3 guest lectures per semester from the external resource persons.

Inter Institutional Activities

The Department has memorandum of understanding (MOU) with  CETE, Physitech Pvt Ltd., Future tech and chip Industry to train the students on Designing and Manufacturing of academic Experiments.

R & D Activities

During Pre – Final year study of the course, students are advised to submit a mini project in their areas of interest and are evaluated for the performance. The students are also being taken to various industries situated in and around the institution for Industrial exposure.

Industrial Visits

Our students are taken to local Electronic Industries Manufacturing Standard and Non – Standard Instruments, Components and Systems to make classroom / theoretical teaching meaningful.

Jawaharlal Knowledge Centre (JKC)

The Department is having JKC Centre to train the students on communication skills, soft skills and personality development.

Social Responsibilities

Students of Electronics and Communications Department along with students of other department of the institution take part in vigorous campaign on the noble cause of donating blood and liberally donate blood when the institute arranges “Annual blood Donation camp”. Our students adopted a school in rural village (Venkatapur) for training and upgrading the skills of the students.

Results

The department has secured around 88% results in JNTU examinations and our students have been placed in meritorious places in various concerns during academic years.

HOD Profile

  • Prof. G. Radhakrishna completed his B.E(E.C.E) in 1st Class with distinction from College of Engineering, Osmania University in the year 1969 and subsequently did his M. E.(Micro Waves) in first Class from O. U. in the year 1983 while working in HAL, Hyderabad.
  • He has worked in Defence Electronic Research Laboratories, Hyderabad from 1970 – 72 before joining Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Hyderabad. Due to success in his career, he was sponsored by HAL., to M/S Selenia Spa, Rome, Italy to work on Radar Systems during 1976 – 77.
  • He was associated with planning assembling and testing of air traffic control Radar and Speed Control Radar (ATCR – 4T), Precision Approach Radar (PAR), Air borne Radars, Weather Radar and Speed Control Radars for 15 years. He was also deputed to Malaysia & Singapore in 1992 for product support mission.
  • He has good planning skills and tactics to deal with any situation. He can successfully come out of any practical difficulties and offer solutions and guidance.
  • After 30 years of R & D and industrial experience, he has joined as Professor & Head of ECE in AU College of Engineering & Technology, Hyderabad in 2000, and in 2001 he has joined as Professor & Head of ECE in Deccan College of Engineering & Technology.
  • He taught Radar Engineering, Satellite Communications, Optical Communications and Antennas & Wave propagation,  Microwaves and Cellular & Mobile communications.
  • He is a fellow of Institution of Electronics and Tele communication Engineers; Fellow of Institutions of Engineers (India); Life Member of Hyderabad Management Association and Life Member of Aeronautical Society of India.
  • He has worked as Principal, TRR College of Engineering, Medak (Dt), Prakasam Engineering College, Kandukur, Prakasam District and Mother Theressa College of Engineering Pedda palli, Kareemnagar district. Presently he is working as a Senior Professor and Head of ECE Dept in Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology, Hyderabad for the last 3 years.
  • He has written number of Articles on Semi conductor Devices in Student journal of IETE and a Paper on “Inductor - Less RC “. Filters in Journal of IETE. He has authored the following books.
  1. Radar Engineering 2006.
  2. Radar Systems 2009.
  3. Optical Communications 2009.
