Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology was established in 1999 by two eminent visionaries in the education field viz. Sri. A.P. Jithender Reddy and Sri. V. Purushottam Reddy to impart quality technical education to the aspiring young students in the fields of Engineering, Management and Computer Applications.

Situated in the backdrop of Osman Sagar in the serene surroundings of Chilkur Balaji Temple, VJIT has a sprawling and lush green campus with architecturally splendorous buildings in an area of 12 acres. VJIT is in the hub of technical education with several institutes of higher learning in its vicinity. VJIT is proud of its excellent academic and administrative infrastructure. The management consisting of businessmen, eminent NRIs and educationalists enrich the institution with their guidance, experience and vision.

Academically, the college has got the services of experienced faculty who head the disciplines of CSE, ECE, IT, EEE, MECH, M.B.A. and M.C.A. They are actively involved in  guiding and developing  the departments. The heads of the departments are ably assisted by young, energetic an experienced faculty. The Administrative Office assists the Management and Principal in the day-to-day operations of the college.

The college can be proud of its good library, a state-of-art Internet Lab, modern and up-to-date labs for each department, a central workshop, sports and games facilities, a canteen and mineral water facility. The college also provides transport and medical facility.
